Highest Beta in the Industrial Gases Industry Detected for Air Products & Chemicals (APD, PX, ARG)

Below are the three companies in the Industrial Gases industry with the highest betas. Higher-beta stocks mean greater volatility and are therefore generally considered to be riskier but also may provide the potential for higher returns.

Air Products & Chemicals (NYSE:APD) is highest with a beta of 1.0. Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. produces industrial gas and related industrial process equipment. The Company also produces and markets polymer chemicals, performance chemicals, and chemical intermediates. Air Products recovers and distributes oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, synthesis gas, and helium, as well as medical and specialty gases.

Over the past year, Air Products & Chemicals has traded in a range of $76.11 to $96.15 and is now at $94.64, 24% above that low. The 200-day and 50-day moving averages have moved 0.18% higher and 0.60% higher over the past week, respectively.

Following is Praxair (NYSE:PX) with a beta of 1.0.

Finishing up the top three is Airgas (NYSE:ARG), with a beta of 0.9.
