Imax Ranks the Highest in Terms of Operating Margin in the Movies & Entertainment Industry (IMAX, DIS, DWA)

Below are the three companies in the Movies & Entertainment industry with the highest operating margin. A healthy operating margin is required for a company to pay for its fixed costs and generate cash.

Imax (NASDAQ:IMAX) is highest with an operating margin of 27.9%. Imax Corporation designs and manufactures projection and sound systems for giant-screen theaters and designs custom attractions, including motion simulation theaters, for both large-scale attractions and smaller venues. The Company also manufactures digital image delivery systems in the form of digital projectors. Imax has traded 142,000 shares thus far today, vs. average volume of 874,000 shares per day. The stock has underperformed the Dow (-0.3% to the Dow's 0.2%) and underperformed the S&P 500 (-0.3% to the S&P's 0.1%) during today's trading.

Following is Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) with an operating margin of 20.4%.

Finishing up the top three is DreamWorks Animation (NASDAQ:DWA), with an operating margin of 18.6%.
