Below are the three companies in the Semiconductors industry with the lowest price to earnings (P/E) ratios. P/E is an important valuation tool when comparing companies in the same industry. A higher P/E ratio means that investors are paying more for each unit of net income, so the stock is more expensive compared to one with a lower P/E ratio.

Silicon Motion Technology (NASDAQ:SIMO) is lowest with a P/E ratio of 9.46. Silicon Motion Technology Corporation is a semiconductor company that designs, develops, and markets semiconductor products for the multimedia consumer electronics market. The Company's products include controllers used in mobile storage media and multimedia systems on a chip. Thus far today, Silicon Motion Technology has traded 53,000 shares, vs. average volume of 543,000 shares per day. The stock has underperformed the Dow (-0.6% to the Dow's -0.3%) and underperformed the S&P 500 (-0.6% to the S&P's -0.2%) during today's trading.
