Stock Investors Bid Up Shares of Alpha Natural Resources, Up 1.3%

One of today's notable stocks on the rise is Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR), up 1.3% to $8.36. The Dow is trading fractionally higher to 13,994 and the S&P is currently trading fractionally higher to 1,518.

Alpha Natural Resources (NYSE:ANR) has potential upside of 36.0% based on a current price of $8.36 and analysts' consensus price target of $11.37. The stock should find initial resistance at its 200-day moving average (MA) of $8.71 and further resistance at its 50-day MA of $9.10.

Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. extracts, processes, and markets steam and metallurgical coal. The Company conducts operations from surface and underground mines located in the northern and central Appalachian regions and Colorado, all located in the United States. Alpha Natural Resources markets its coal to electric utilities, steel and other industrial producers.

Alpha Natural Resources share prices have moved between a 52-week high of $21.45 and a 52-week low of $5.28 and are now trading 58% above that low price at $8.36 per share. The 200-day and 50-day moving averages have moved 1.34% lower and 0.84% higher over the past week, respectively.
